Frank Garner

Frank Garner, BA, B Ed, Master of Coaching Diploma

Frank Garner is well known and respected in international sport, recreation and government circles. As Olympic and National Team Coach for the Canadian Canoe Team from 1974-1985, he led the country to over 45 medals in international competition.

Frank joins the Fairwinds Team as a facilitator and trainer in the fields of goal setting, team building, planning and leadership techniques. He has worked with organizations such as Sobeys Inc., Teachers Association of Physical Educators, RCMP, National Gypsum, Procor Ltd., Sport Nova Scotia, and Nova Scotia Canada Games Coaches group.

Frank has held multiple key leadership roles in Canada’s hosting of the 1989, 1997, 2009, and 2013 World Sprint Canoe Kayak championships.

Frank holds Bachelor of Arts and Education degrees from Saint Mary’s University and a Master of Coaching Diploma. He is a member of the Expert Advisory Committee on Education through the Canadian Centre for Ethics in Sport. He has performed the duties of Chief Canoeing Official for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece, the 2008 Beijing Games, as well as the London 2012 Olympic Games. He has been inducted into both the Nova Scotia and the Canadian Olympic Sport Halls of Fame.

Frank is an excellent motivator and facilitator. He brings his vast experience in coaching and leadership to each of his sessions. He enables and empowers people to set goals and strategically plan to achieve them. His ability to coach and form teams in the sport world is now being shared with the public and private organizations that look to Frank for guidance.
