Chris Giddens

Chris Giddens, MBA/LLB

Chris is a legal and business professional who combines management expertise and business development acumen with legal and contractual expertise. Chris holds MBA and LLB degrees from Dalhousie University and is equally at home facilitating senior management discussions about strategic growth or reviewing an organization’s terms and conditions for risk management.

Chris’ experience, through his years in the federal government, includes assisting Atlantic Canadian companies and academic institutions with growth opportunities, technology transfer and research and development partnerships. It was in this role that Chris first developed a passion for assisting organizations to reach their full potential as he worked closely with numerous small and medium sized businesses to strengthen their overall management and improve their access to government funding programs.

In roles within the aerospace and defence industry, Chris gained significant experience in project management in a regulated industry by managing multifaceted agreements with local, national and international governments and led and contributed to proposals that were submitted to government departments. As legal counsel for a national fuel distribution company, Chris routinely provided legal, risk assessment and strategic business advice to senior leadership in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, human resources, real estate and other corporate commercial transactions.

Chris focuses his legal consulting on areas such as drafting, reviewing and negotiating agreements, managing agreements once completed, board governance, human resource issues, real estate matters and general legal counsel services. His focus on business consulting is in the area of strategic management, process improvements, supply chain management and overall business growth.

It is these skills and abilities that Chris can bring to the table when assisting organizations to overcome their business and legal challenges. Chris has succeeded in his various roles due to his strong interpersonal and organizational skills and his ability to think analytically and strategically in fast-paced, demanding business environments.

Chris has been a practicing member of the Nova Scotia Barristers’ Society since 2001 and sits on the Board of the Nova Scotia International Air Show Association. He has coached both minor hockey and baseball and enjoys playing softball and hockey himself.

When not assisting companies, Chris can be found cheering on his children on the ball fields or volleyball and basketball courts.
